The question I decided to answer was “Compare and Contrast any of the following pair: Hamlet and Laertes, Gertrude and Ophelia, and Claudia and Polonius.” I decided to write on Hamlet and Laertes because they had a main part in the play. In this paragraph I am going to talk about the similar things that they had in common in the play. Hamlet and Laertes were both princes, but in different countries. They also wanted revenge for their father’s death.

Next, I will be talking about how Hamlet is different from Laertes. Hamlet was madly in love with Ophelia, which is Laertes’s sister. Hamlet also saw his father’s ghost. Another thing was he was very smart and knew how to get out of trouble. Hamlet was quiet about his plans when it came to how he was going to get revenge.

The last thing I’ll talk about is how Laertes is different than Hamlet. Laertes was very upfront with how he was going to get revenge on Hamlet. He also felt remorse when he was dying at the end because he relized why Hamlet was getting revenge. Laertes was a man who blamed others for his sister’s death. He didn’t approve of Ophelia and Hamlet being together, and he stuck his nose in other people’s business.
