Hamlets indecision is evident throughout the play. Give examples and explain how his indecisions effects his actions and the plot of the play.


Hamlet has lots of problems throughout the play because he dose not think before he acts. For example, after Hamlet dose not kill Claudius in the church he goes up to his mother’s room and starts to talk to her. Polonius was hiding behind the drapes without Hamlet knowing about him being there. When Polonius starts to yell out help Hamlet with out thinking starts to stab the drapes thinking that it was Claudius. After he finds out that it was now not who he thought it was his indecision acting makes Laertes go to Denmark from France to get revenge on who ever killed his father even though Hamlet did not kill him on perpous.

This starts a chain of events leading to Ophelia killing her self because she is confused, Gertrude being poisoned and Claudius killing himself due to pressure of other people telling him to drink the poison that killed Gertrude.

If Hamlet thought about what he was going to do more then I think maybe not as many people would have had to die.

Hamlet has indecision problems when he talks to Ophelia also. She can’t tell if Hamlet really loves her of not. She felt used by Hamlet when he took her in the bedroom. I don’t think that Hamlet was really using her I think that she just thought that because Hamlet was acting strange after his fathers dies and cause she dose not understand that Hamlet did not mean to kill her father.

This play is about communication problems. If people in the play talk about there problems to each other it would of helped hamlet not go crazy, it would of helped Ophelia understand what was going on with Hamlet why what happened to her farther did happen to him, and if Polonius didn’t spy on Hamlet instead of just talking to him he problem would not of died.

Laertes should have found out why Hamlet killed his farther by talking to Hamlet instead of just wanting revenge. Then maybe he would not of tried to kill Hamlet and in turn not die him self. Laertes is the only one that Finley understands everything before he dies. He asks for forgiveness from Hamlet cause he understands why Hamlet did what he did. He realizes that everything is the result of Claudius being selfish and killing King Hamlet.
